Game development log

What we want to say !!!

If you are a programmer, you are familiar with the syntax in the title! Yes, we started a bold attempt - Making a game! This may be something many people want to do. The idea came from a game long ago called “Yomawari: Night Alone”. The game was released in 2015, features beautiful characters, a fantastical style, and scary elements are still now memorable. Looking down 2D games gradually became our motivation to make games.

Since we are still in the college stage, all the program bases are in a state of development, and there are many situations and backgrounds we do not know. For example, the process of making the game, the framework needed for the game, and how the various departments coordinated, these challenges overwhelmed us at once. Another problem is that we are indie which means some of us to have to play multiple roles in the whole team. Luckily, some partners are also interested in the project and the style of the game, which makes it possible to start the project.

The Voice of Developers

Kamiku – Program Director | Music Director

As a developer, I also have the biggest problem - defining the game's code framework from start to finish. In the past, I thought a program could just follow a set set of requirements like a homework assignment. But when I started playing the game, the idea was immediately overwritten. A game framework is important, including the coordination of subroutines, singleton mode control, and so on. At first, I didn't even know how to control a character's basic walk in unity. Fortunately, there are many excellent videos on the Internet to explain these contents, which broaden my technical knowledge.

Andrew - Major Designer | Game Director

As an organizer, I found friends who wanted to develop games with me and formed the current team. Even though it was our first time developing a game. I also had a lot of difficulties in planning the game. I hope that the players can be touched by the emotion conveyed by our game, which requires me to design the story and gameplay that can make the players emotionally involved. Fortunately, there are plenty of other game videos on the web that I can learn from, and plenty of game forums that I can benefit from. Specific game elements and games that inspired me will be explained in the following development logs.

Mona - Art Director

Hello, everyone. I am the art director of the game. I am responsible for the design of characters and the drawing of game scenes. It's my first time to design these, but I do my best. At the same time, in this process, helping the characters to draw is quite complicated. In order to form the animation, I need to draw a series of pictures to form the action. I like playing games very much, and I joined the team because I wanted to make a game dream.
